Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University cordially invites scientists, scholars and persons who are interested in issues of international migration and changes in labor markets against the background of global migration challenges to participate in an International Workshop. The key topic of the event is follows: “Regional labor markets’ changes in the reaction of global migration challenges”.

CONTENT AND SECTIONS OF THE EVENT
This international workshop will address the transformative impact of global migration flows on regional labor markets, examining historical, legal, cultural, political, and socio-economic factors in the context of migration challenges. Experts from various fields will provide insights into how migration affects host and home countries, especially in light of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War. The workshop will consist of four main sections, each featuring keynote speakers who will share their expertise on specific aspects of migration and labor market dynamics.

WORKING SECTIONS

Section 1. Historical, Legal, Cultural, Political, and Social Aspects of Migration Challenges
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Michael Dobbins, University of Konstanz, Germany

This section will explore the multifaceted nature of migration, covering its historical roots, legal and political frameworks, and cultural implications. Dr. Michael Dobbins will discuss the political and social challenges that migration poses to both host and sending countries, highlighting the importance of understanding these factors for effective policy-making.

Section 2. Global Labor Market Dynamics in the Context of Migration Flows
Keynote Speaker: Prof. Dr. Yulia Moroz, Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University, Ukraine

Prof. Dr. Yulia Moroz will delve into the shifts in global labor markets driven by migration flows, analyzing patterns of workforce mobility and their implications for economic development. This section will focus on how migration can both challenge and benefit labor markets on a global scale, offering a comparative perspective.

Section 3. Ukrainian Economy and Host Countries’ Migration Issues in the Context of the War in Ukraine
Keynote Speakers: Dr. Oksana Pyatkovska, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ukraine;
Dr. Iryna Maidanik, Ptoukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies NASU, Ukraine

This session will address the specific challenges faced by Ukraine and host countries in light of the current conflict. Dr. Oksana Pyatkovska and Dr. Iryna Maidanik will examine the socio-economic impact of Ukrainian migration, focusing on issues such as labor market integration, social cohesion, and the economic contributions of Ukrainian migrants in host countries.

Section 4. Regional Labor Markets' Changes as New Solutions to the Russo-Ukrainian War Tasks
Keynote Speaker: Prof. Dr. Kateryna Romanchuk, Poznan University of Economics and Business, Poland

In this final section, Prof. Dr. Kateryna Romanchuk will discuss how regional labor markets in Eastern Europe have adapted in response to the Russo-Ukrainian War. Emphasis will be placed on new economic strategies and solutions developed to address the unprecedented migration crisis and its long-term effects on regional labor markets. Additionally, this section will explore a range of new solutions to labor market issues within Ukraine as it faces the ongoing challenges of war.

Workshop Moderator:
Dr. Svitlana Chugaievska, Institute of Economy and Finances, Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University, Poland

Dr. Svitlana Chugaievska will serve as the moderator of this workshop, guiding discussions and ensuring a comprehensive exploration of the topics covered. With her expertise in economic and financial analysis, Dr. Chugaievska will help facilitate dialogue on the critical issues facing regional labor markets amid global migration challenges. Research Project of Dr. Svitlana Chugaievska is funded by Institute of International Education's Scholar Rescue Fund, USA and includes a continuation of the study on the base of Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University, Poland. The title of project is "Social-demographic transformations in Ukraine on the background of the war: migration crisis, challenges and prospects“ (10.2023-10.2025).

WORKSHOP LOCATION
The hybrid conference will be held on-site in the Senate Hall on Campus A of Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski University in Krakow and via the online platform.
